HP Envy 4520 series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi. I have a fault with my HP Envy 4520 series [7D5900]. Duplex printing prints on the short edge whether I select short or long edge. I have run HP Print & Scan Doctor 5.3 which stops at driver check with a message “Driver Conflict detected” I have reinstalled EN4520_Full_WebPack_1122.exe but problem remains. Tried to shut printer down but it froze so disconnected power supply. Re-booted printer but printer still remains

Welcome to HP support community.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

I hope that helps.

I had considered total uninstall but I wasn’t aware of printui.exe /s (space is important) so thanks.

When removing the driver, I was given an option of driver only or driver and driver package. I selected both but after processing, an error message appeared  stating the driver package hpygid20.inf (x64) could not be removed. “Apply” was greyed out so I clicked on “Close”

Re-installed the full package again. Duplex layout problem solved but only manual duplex available & only printing in B&W. Accessing printer preferences through Devices & Printer or the print options in MS Word results in error message & program crashes. The error message is   FUNCTION ADDRESS 0x00007FF8A063A839 caused a protection fault (exception code 0xe06d7363)

Repeated the whole process of uninstall & re-install again. No driver or driver package option available but printer preferences now available without error. Unfortunately, no option to select colour & only manual duplex available.

I've just found a similar colour problem on the forum & I can confirm that when taking a copy, it does copy in colour.

Earlier today (before uninstalling), I replaced the black cartridge & the test page  was in colour, but when I now run Print & scan doctor, there are no problems found but when I print a test page there is no colour

This might require remote access of the computer to fix this issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I hope that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
