Hello,
I’m looking for a compatible driver for the HP Smart Tank 520 All-in-One Printer (non-wireless) to use with macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 (updated December 4, 2024).
I updated firmware and I’ve tried to find the driver available on HP’s official website, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to work with this version of macOS. Has anyone encountered this issue or found a solution?
I’d really appreciate any guidance, alternative links, or steps to get the printer working properly.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @FerRX,
Thanks for your advice! I followed the YouTube tutorial you mentioned, but unfortunately, it still doesn’t work. When I try to add my printer, I get an error message saying, "An error occurred while trying to add the selected device. Unable to communicate with the printer at this time."
I’ve also tried resetting the printing system and removed all previously added printers, but I’m still encountering the same error. I reached out to HP support in my country, and they told me that the printer driver for Mac is not available at the moment. However, I’ve seen several posts from people using the HP Smart Tank 520 with Mac, so I’m not sure what’s going wrong with my setup.
If you have any other suggestions or ideas, I’d really appreciate it!
Thank you so much,
CB
