Hello,
Could you please tell me what driver I can use for the HP Laser Jet 4000N (with Windows 10 (64 bit)).
Is the driver available? If not, is there an alternative?
When installing the printer, Windows 10 offers the following drivers: (all are for the HP Laser Jet 4000 Series):
PCL5
PCL6
PS
and for the HP Laser Jet 4050 Series:
PCL 5
PCL6
PS
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,
I would recommend that you choose drive according to your need:
PCL5 is for legacy products and most Mono’s and it’s quite lighter so this would make it work quite faster.
For printing from 3rd party or custom software solutions such as forms, fonts (non-Postscript), or SAP programs
PCL6 is designed to work with color printers and standard apps. Recommended for general office applications such as word processing or spreadsheet applications, etc.
Post scripts are designed for heavier docs as PDFs and more color needed docs (photos per instance) therefore is quite slower as the *resolution is greater. This UPD also works for regular printing though.
Provides support for postscript emulation printing, or for postscript flash font support
And then just proceed to install and test.

Hello cyberlawgirl,
Please check out the following option that should resolve your issue:
The driver that works for Windows 10 x64 is the Windows 7x64 driver for Laserjet 4050 PCL6
Driver Name is HP Laserjet 4050 PCL6 version 6.1.7233.0 - Works perfectly and with these drivers you can get 1200x1200 resolution and also control all the trays (paper-type and size) correctly.

I have a problem after changing win10 32bit to 64bit, my printer 4000n with PCL6 driver now only prints one garbled line on top of each page. Was working fine previously. Have tried lots of things, but the same problem. Hoping someone could assist. Thanks, Rob
