Is there a printer driver for the Laserjet P1006 for Mac OSX 15.5

Hi @Mbota

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Unfortunately, the HP LaserJet P1006 isn’t officially supported on macOS 15.5 (Sequoia). HP discontinued driver updates for this model after macOS 12 Monterey. Since the P1006 relies on older 32-bit drivers, it’s incompatible with the newer macOS architecture.

As of now, HP does not provide a dedicated printer driver for the HP LaserJet P1006 for macOS 15.5. However, you may be able to use a generic driver or install the printer using Apple's built-in AirPrint feature, which supports basic printing functions for many printers.

Steps to Set Up Your Printer Using AirPrint:

Ensure Direct Connection:

  • Connect the printer to your Mac using a USB cable or ensure it's on the same network for wireless setup.

Add Printer Using System Preferences:

  • Go to 'System Preferences' > 'Printers & Scanners'.
  • Click the '+' sign to add a new printer.
  • Choose the HP LaserJet P1006 from the list and select AirPrint as the driver option.

Test Printing:

  • Once added, print a test page to ensure functionality.

Keep in mind that using AirPrint may limit some advanced features of your printer but should allow standard printing tasks.

If this doesn’t meet your needs or functionality requirements, checking for third-party software solutions like Gutenprint might provide printing capabilities, although it won’t be officially supported by HP.

Always ensure your macOS is updated, as sometimes newer versions enhance printer compatibility.
