HP support for the 1100 series only goes to Monterey.

There is no official HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) available for macOS. HP only develops and supports its Universal Print Driver line for Windows operating systems.[1, 3, 4]Furthermore, the HP LaserJet P1100 series (such as the P1102 or P1108) is a host-based legacy printer series that HP no longer officially supports on recent macOS versions (support largely ended with macOS 12 Monterey).[1, 2]If you are trying to get an HP P1100 series printer working on a modern Mac, you can try these alternative workarounds:

  • macOS Built-in Generic Drivers: When adding the printer under Printers & Scanners, click the Use dropdown menu and select Generic PCL Printer. While this works for many printers, note that some host-based P1100 models may still refuse to print without specific software.[1, 2]
  • Legacy HP Driver Package: You can download the older HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X from Apple. While not officially compatible with the newest macOS releases, some users have successfully bypassed installer restrictions by manually extracting the driver files (.pkg) to get their P1102/P1108 models working.[1, 2, 3]
  • Open-Source Drivers: Third-party printer driver suites like Gutenprint offer open-source CUPS drivers that can sometimes revive older, unsupported LaserJet models on Mac.

let me know if you get it to work!
