Hi @RareBlkDiamond,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Error code 79 on an HP printer often indicates a problem with the printer's firmware or a print job that the printer is unable to process correctly. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this issue:

Restart the Printer: The first and simplest step is to turn off the printer, wait about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes clear the error if it was caused by a temporary issue.

Check for Print Jobs: Make sure there are no jobs in the print queue. You can do this from the computer or device that sent the print job. Sometimes, a specific document can cause the printer to display this error. Try cancelling all jobs and then send a different document to the printer.

Update Printer Firmware: Sometimes, updating the firmware of the printer can resolve this error. Visit the HP website, find the support and download section for your specific printer model, and check for firmware updates.

Disconnect Additional Devices: If your printer is connected to any external devices or memory (like a USB stick or an external hard drive), disconnect them. These can sometimes cause conflicts that result in an error 79.

Isolate the Printer: If you are in a network environment, disconnect the printer from the network and connect it directly to a single computer, if possible. Try printing again to see if the error persists. This helps determine if the issue is related to the network or the printer itself.

Perform a Factory Reset: If none of the above steps work, you might need to reset the printer to its factory settings. This can usually be done through the printer's control panel under the settings menu. However, this will erase all settings, so it should be done as a last resort.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
