Fix for Slow Printing Speeds:
The issue might be a simple paper alignment error.
If the blue paper guide in the tray isn't properly tightened against the stack, the printer may struggle to process the job.

  • The Fix: Remove the paper, re-stack it evenly, and slide the blue aligner until it’s flush against the edge of the paper. This should restore your normal printing speed immediately.

Hi @nkurd

Welcome to the HP Support Community! Thanks for posting your query!

I’m glad you shared this observation. Paper alignment is often overlooked, yet it can make a noticeable difference in printing speed and smoothness. Re‑stacking the paper and ensuring the blue guide is snug against the stack helps the printer feed sheets evenly, preventing hesitation during the job.

Thank you for highlighting this practical fix—it’s a simple adjustment that can restore normal speed right away and keep the HP Smart Tank 580 running efficiently.
