All I want to do is print a highlighted section of an Excel spreadsheet. Using File/Print does not give any choice of preferences. Similarly Ctrl P doesn't . All help answers say the preferences just appear on the right, and they did once but can't get them now - similarly print preview. Hope someone can help!!

In general, the full range of Printing Preferences are available after you installed the full driver printer software.  Typically, too, once installed, the full driver remains installed and functional.

Neither of these things are guaranteed -- "stuff" can happen, including a random Windows Update that smashes the installed full driver or one of the related settings.

-- Side Bar --

"Pending" Windows Updates can also wreak havoc -- check and install any "waiting" or "pending" Windows Updates.

-- NOTES --

When called from within printing programs / software / applications, Printing Preferences might be called "Printer Properties" / "Shortcuts" / “More Settings” / “Properties” / "Printer Setup" / "Presets" or similar.

Excel > File > Print menu includes "section" settings

  • Print Active Sheets
  • Print Entire Workbook
  • Print Selection

-- Note --

If the check / correction for the Default Printer and the check / adjustment for Printer Properties do not help by themselves, consider adding the procedure to reinstall the full driver printer software.

Check / Correct the printer as the “Default Printer”

Windows 11

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers and scanners

Scroll down > Switch OFF Let Windows manage my default printer

Scroll up > Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Set as Default

Windows 10

Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners

UNCHECK (clear box) Let Windows manage my default printer

Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Manage > Set as Default
