Officejet J5780 was previously installed in old computer with Windows XP system using HP CD.
CD not acceptable to Woindows 10 in present computer.
Printer works in present computer but scanner doesn't.
Tried downloading and installing 'HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver' but installation would not complete.
Any advice would be appreciated. Not very computer literate!!

Happy New Year to you! Thanks for replying.
The CCleaner has two main uses. One, it scans for and deletes useless files, freeing up space. Two, it erases private data like your browsing history and list of most recently opened files in various programs.
The CC cleaner should give you a list as shown below to select the data you want to delete.
Hope this helps. Cheers! 🙂

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP Officejet J5780 All-in-One Printer and it does not scan on Windows 10. Printing is fine though. you have tried to install the drivers and the installation will not complete. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
In a USB type connection, do not connect the USB cable to the printer unless you receive a prompt of the computer screen. Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
Once you have performed the above steps, please download and install the drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2hwScWw
I hope this helps. Feel free to let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂

Kazi,
Thanks very much for your reply. Have tried to follow suggested steps, despite my computer ' illiteracy' (and nervousness about deleting or uninstalling anything!). However:
- In 'programs and Features', I couldn't see 'HP Printer' listed. There are a number of other HP items (like HP Support Assistant, HP Support Solutions.....). So I didn't unistall anything and moved on.
- In Devices and Printers, I clicked Remove Device for my Printer, as suggested.
- I opened Run command, got the HP Printer driver, selected driver only (not whole package), and clicked Remove.
- Got response "Unable to remove....the specified printer driver is currently in use"
Would be grateful for any further advice you may be able to give.

Thanks for the reply, if you are unable to delete the driver, you can install our HP Scan and Capture app from Windows Store for free and check if you are able to scan without changing any drivers. Click here. To know more, you can visit this Microsoft Store post.
Let me know if this helped.
If the information I've provided was helpful,
Please give us some reinforcement by clicking the "Accepted Solution" and "Kudos" buttons,
That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck.

Dear Chimney_83
Thanks for help. I had, in fact, already installed HP scan and capture - and it does work for me. (Hence the kudo!) However, I would like also to have been able to install the 'Full Feature Software and Driver', to take full advantage of my HP equipment. Hence my original posting.

Thanks, Sizzlingsum, for your reply. However, step 3 in your procedure cannot be carried out because my printer (HP officejet J5780 all-in-one) is not listed in 'Programs and Features' - although it does appear in 'Devices and printers'.

Hi @Jack008,
I reviewed the post comprehensively. I understand that you are not able to perform step 3. Please follow step 2 in the document first.
Step 2: Remove the printer from the devices list
To complete the uninstall, remove the printer and any Windows print drivers from the Windows Devices and Printers list.
-
Make sure the printer is turned on and in a ready state.
-
If your printer connects to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.
-
Search Windows for devices, then click Devices and Printers in the list of results.
-
Right-click the icon for your printer, click Remove Device, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the printer removal.
If multiple icons exist for your printer, remove them all.
Then please install a program called CCleaner on your computer from this link: http://filehippo.com/search?q=CCleaner and run the program and uninstall all the printer software.
Please note that this is a third party link. Just download only the program that says Ccleaner and nothing else.
- Please do not click on any ad, image, download or link or anywhere else as it is a third party link.
- Download only Ccleaner.
- Then uninstall any remnants left of the printer by running this app.
- It will list you all the programs installed on the computer.
- If you find your printer in the list, click on it and either delete or uninstall it.
- To do this please click on Tools and then the program list will show up. Here select the printer if it listed and click on uninstall.
- If uninstall does not work try delete. If the printer is not listed don't worry. It has already been uninstalled.
- Then download and install the latest printer software from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/HP-Officejet-J5700-All-in-One-Printer-seri...
- After the installation completes try to print and scan if it works the issue is resolved otherwise
- Select the most appropriate option depending on the type of connection you have from these links.

Thanks, DavidSMP.
I have downloaded and installed CCleaner.
When I click 'RUN', I get a message saying '...will permanently delete files...'
Scared to go further without further guidance.
Will I be offered a list from which to select item(s) to be deleted - or what?
Sorry to be a pest!
