HP OfficeJet 5745 e-All-in-One Printer

I need to set up my printer to connect with my iPhone. I was told that it has to be an Air printer. Is that true and how can I find that out?

Hi @Dawn1872 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to connect your HP OfficeJet 5745 E-All-In-One Printer to your iPhone, you don't necessarily need it to be an AirPrint-enabled printer, but AirPrint does make the process much simpler. Here's how you can find out if your printer supports AirPrint and how to set it up:|

Check if Your Printer Supports AirPrint

Check the Manual or Specifications:

  • Look in the user manual or the printer's specifications sheet. It should mention if the printer supports AirPrint.

HP Support Website:

  • Visit the HP Support website and enter your printer model (OfficeJet 5745). Look for AirPrint support in the printer's specifications.

Printer's Settings:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the wireless settings. If there is an option for AirPrint, then your printer supports it.

Setting Up AirPrint on Your Printer

Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi:

  • Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone. You can usually do this through the printer's control panel:
    • On the printer, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Enable AirPrint (if needed):

  • Some printers require you to enable AirPrint. This can usually be done from the printer's control panel under Settings or Network settings.

Printing from Your iPhone

Open the Document or Photo:

  • On your iPhone, open the document, photo, or webpage you want to print.

Tap the Share Icon:

  • Tap the Share icon (it looks like a square with an arrow pointing up).

Select Print:

  • Scroll down and select Print.

Select Printer:

  • Tap Select Printer and choose your HP OfficeJet 5745 from the list of available printers.

Print:

  • Adjust the print settings if needed, then tap Print in the upper right corner.

If your printer does not support AirPrint, you can still print from your iPhone using the HP Smart app, which is available for free from the App Store. Here's how:

Using HP Smart App

Download the HP Smart App:

  • Go to the App Store on your iPhone and download the HP Smart app.

Set Up the HP Smart App:

  • Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer. Make sure your printer and iPhone are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Print from HP Smart App:

  • Use the HP Smart app to print documents, photos, and more directly from your iPhone.

Refer to this document:  HP OfficeJet 5745 e-All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
