It sounds like your HP DeskJet 2755e All-in-One printer may be facing an issue with direct printing or there may be a configuration issue. Typically, you should be able to print directly without having to save files first. Here are some possible reasons and solutions for the problem.
Printer Connection Issue:
- Ensure your printer is properly connected via Wi-Fi or USB. If you're printing over Wi-Fi, check that both the printer and computer are on the same network.
- If using USB, try using a different USB port or cable.
Driver or Software Issue:
- Ensure the printer driver is correctly installed on your computer. Sometimes, outdated or missing drivers can prevent direct printing.
- You can reinstall or update the driver from the HP support website: HP DeskJet 2755e drivers.
Print Spooler Issue:
- The print spooler service might be causing problems. Restarting the service can sometimes fix this:
- Open the Run dialog (Press Windows key + R).
- Type services.msc and press Enter.
- Find Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.
Default Printer Settings:
- Make sure your HP DeskJet 2755e is set as the default printer.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click Set as Default.
Application-Specific Issues:
- Some programs may have their own print settings that require you to save first. Check your application’s print settings to see if there's an option to print directly.
HP Smart App Settings:
- If you are using the HP Smart app to print, ensure that it's properly connected and configured. You may need to check if any print preferences within the app need adjustment.
