I bought an HP Color LaserJet Pro 4201dw and I cannot find the serial number. I bout if off amazon, did I get a counterfeit?
I was also able to print my printers configuration report, but when I enter in the Product serial number and the product number HP says it is invalid.

Use this guide to find the serial and product ID

Is there a problem with the printer?

Thanks for the info, but it is indeed the same serial number and product number I was able to print. When I try to add my new printer to my HP profile it asks for my serial number, and then the product number, but I just get the notification to "Please enter a valid product number". This is just to get my printer on my HP profile. I bought the printer almost a month ago and could print wirelessly just fine and then it just stopped. In HP Smart it says the printer is ready, but when I try to print from word, PowerPoint or other MS app it says the printer is offline. Same printing pdf, in just sits pending in the queue. I bought the printer off amazon and wondering if it was legit or not. And I can't even find a good HP customer support phone number.

I am going to guess.
HP (and other OEM) have ink contracts that one signs up for when buying the printer. I know that some users do not want to continue the ink contract and sell or just give away the printer and the person getting it cannot use it unless they activate the ink contract. I have no idea if this is the case but I read complaints about ink. I have an older HP color laserjet and I have had no problem with toners that are not labeled HP.
