I just moved.  The printer was working fine.  When I turned it on in the new house it says, "Printer Setup Incomplete"  I've followed all of the virtual assistant suggestions to no resolution.  I'm not computer genius, so it very well could be the user.   I know the printer works because I have a couple dozen Printer Information Reports.   The printer is online  I'm at a loss to know what else to try.

I reset the printer to the factory settings and reinstalled it. It is working now.

Hi @JPMAC2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP printer shows “Printer Setup Incomplete” after moving. The most likely next step is to reconnect and complete the printer setup on the network, then make sure the printer software/driver is properly installed on your computer.

What to try

Reconnect the printer to your wireless network

  • On the printer, go to Setup

  • Select Network

  • Choose Wireless Setup Wizard

  • Select your new Wi‑Fi network name

  • Enter the network password/passphrase

  • Confirm the connection until the printer shows it is connected successfully

Reinstall or complete the printer driver/software on your computer

  • If you have the HP software/driver disc, run it and choose the network/wireless setup option

  • If you do not have the disc, download the correct printer driver from HP Support Official HP® Support.

  • During installation, select Through the network / Wireless

  • Let the installer search for and find your printer

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for the suggestion but it did not work.  I reinstalled the print driver, it is on the network, it is online, but still "setup incomplete".  I do not understand why simply changing the wifi provider would make the printer stop working.  I understand having to connect it to the new wifi, but why would that F up the print driver.  It worked  I carried it across the street, plugged it in, logged into the new network, but consistently "set up incomplete".   I am desperate to get this printing working and it seems like I have no choice but to buy a new printer.  I don't see any other options.  I've totally run out of patients, I've spent more than 6 hours trying to get this stupid thing to work.

I’m confused why that would be the problem.  The only change was the WiFi provider that made it stop working

I reset the printer to the factory settings and reinstalled it. It is working now.
