Hello,
My HP ENVY Photo 7155 printer is stuck on the initialization screen (attached image). I have tried factory resets, connecting my printer to a computer directly to try and install updated firmware but nothing is working. This there anything I can do or is this a gaint paperweight now?

Hi @GMK56,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When an HP ENVY Photo 7155 printer is stuck on the initialization screen, it's frustrating but not necessarily a sign that the printer is permanently unusable. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.
Power Reset
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still on.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then back into the printer.
- Turn on the printer and check if it moves past the initialization screen.
Remove Ink Cartridges and Reset
- Turn off the printer.
- Open the ink cartridge access door and carefully remove the cartridges.
- Close the access door and restart the printer without the cartridges.
- Once the printer asks for the ink cartridges, reinsert them and check if it continues initializing.
USB Firmware Update (Hard Reset)
- Download the latest firmware for the HP ENVY Photo 7155 from the HP support website.
- Connect your printer to your computer via USB (not WiFi).
- Run the firmware update tool to see if it can push a firmware update to your printer. Sometimes a corrupted firmware can cause the printer to freeze on the initialization screen.
Check for Paper Jams
- Double-check the printer for any paper jams or debris, especially in the rear access or printhead area. Even a small jam can cause the initialization process to freeze.
Try a Different Power Source
- Plug the printer into a different power outlet, preferably directly into the wall and not through a power strip or surge protector.
Service Mode or Recovery
- Some HP printers have a recovery or service mode. Try holding down the power button for 10-15 seconds while the printer is plugged in to see if it triggers a service reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
