HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I turned off my printer yesterday.  When I tried to turn it back on, it would not turn on.  After some online research, I learned that "driver not available" seems to be my problem. I tried many suggested ways to resolve my problem but none worked. Today I used HP Smart, but diagnosis: "Driver Check issue not fixed." So, I am stumped. What do I do next?

@jtmiller2, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the printer not turning on!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer is not turning on, but you've also encountered a "Driver not available" issue, let's troubleshoot step by step:

Check Power Issues (If the Printer Won’t Turn On)

Ensure Proper Power Supply

  • Disconnect the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (not a power strip or surge protector).
  • Try turning the printer on.

Perform a Power Reset

  • Unplug the printer from power.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power and turn it on.

Check the Power Adapter & Cord

  • Make sure you're using the correct HP power adapter and cable.
  • If possible, test with another compatible power adapter.

Fix "Driver Not Available" Issue

If the printer does turn on but the driver issue remains, follow these steps:

Uninstall Old Drivers & Software

  • Press Windows + XDevice Manager → Expand Printers
  • Right-click HP ENVY 5055 → Click Uninstall device
  • Check Delete the driver software for this device → Click Uninstall
  • Also, go to Control Panel → Programs & Features → Uninstall any HP printer software.

Download & Install Latest Drivers

  • Go to HP Support
  • Search for HP ENVY 5055 → Download the latest Windows 11 driver
  • Install and restart your PC.
