I have the HP Officejet Pro 9125e and it has been an absolute headache from the getgo. Today I had an issue and of course a factory reset was suggested. I performed this and get as far as installing the paper and ink before my screen just gets stuck on "preparing...". I know it is not connected to my wifi network because the blue light is blinking, but there is NO WAY for me to get it connected to my network! I've already reset my modem blahblahblah. It's not a network issue, it's the printer. I can't access any functions on the touchscreen since it is just stuck at "Preparing..." no matter what I do.

I used the HP Smart App, which cannot locate my printer no matter what I do. Yes, I have made sure my bluetooth and location are on. I go through the whole song and dance of "printer not listed" and then it tells me to connect to an HP-Setup WiFi network which will not show up on any of my devices as an option.

This is so ridiculous.

I am about to throw this whole thing in the garbage. Please help.

Hi @oiwghdspjvcxl,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure that there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer.
  • Confirm that the ink cartridges are correctly installed and secure in their slots.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn on the printer.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the printer's power cord from the outlet while the printer is turned on.
  • Wait about 60 seconds and plug it back in.
  • Turn it on to see if it progresses past the "preparing..." screen.

Reinstall Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the printer, remove the ink cartridges, and reinstall them carefully.
  • Ensure they are properly seated and that there is no debris in the cartridge slots.

Connect to Wi-Fi:

  • If the blue light is blinking, it indicates that it is not connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Try connecting your printer via Ethernet if the option is available to bypass Wi-Fi issues temporarily.
  • To reconnect to Wi-Fi, ensure that your printer is close to the router and attempt the setup via the HP Smart App or the printer control panel.

Firmware Update:

  • Check for any firmware updates from the HP Support webpage as updates can resolve ongoing functional issues.

I hope this helps.
