Hi @tayloram

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP DeskJet 2700 series printer is stuck in sleep mode or isn’t waking up when prompted, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Wake the Printer

  • Press the Power button briefly (don’t hold it down for too long) to see if the printer wakes up.
  • Try sending a print job from your computer or mobile device, as many printers automatically wake up when they detect activity.

2. Check Power Settings

  • Some printers have a Power Save mode or an automatic sleep setting.
  • Check your printer's settings by accessing the control panel (if available) or through the HP Smart app/software on your computer.

3. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from power for about 2 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on. This can reset the printer’s sleep mode.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues. Use the HP Smart app or visit the HP Support website to check for and install the latest firmware updates.

5. Disable Sleep Mode

Access Printer Settings via the Control Panel:

  • If your printer has a built-in control panel with a screen, navigate to Settings or Preferences.
  • Look for options like Power Management or Sleep Mode Settings.

Use the HP Smart App:

  • Download the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone.
  • Connect the printer to the app (ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your device).
  • Go to Settings within the app, and locate options related to sleep mode or power-saving features.
  • Disable sleep mode or extend the timer to keep the printer awake for longer.

Access Settings Through Your Computer:

  • Open the printer settings on your computer:
    • On Windows, search for "Devices and Printers" in the Start menu.
    • Right-click your HP DeskJet 2700 printer and select Properties or Preferences.
    • Look for power or sleep mode settings within the available tabs.
  • Change the sleep settings to Off or set a longer inactivity timer.
