Your solution did not help, the message in the printer queue is til 'filter failed'.

The situation is slowly getting worse with latest OS upgrades. Maybe the OS upgrading team needs upgrade

@Applechuck, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'd like to know the following-

  • May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
  • Which application are you trying to print from?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi TEJ1602,

I have this problem too; I have a Laserjet 3055 connected to my home network via ethernet from my router.

1. On one Macbook Air I upgraded to Catalina from Mojave and the printer works fine!

2. On my other Macbook Air I did a clean install of Catalina. The printer showed up in "Printers and Scanners", the queue showed the document I wanted to print, but the printer did not print.

3. I did a printer reset which cleared the name of the printer, turned off the Laserjet for 10 seconds, turned it back on (several times) and clicked "+" to add a printer, and a blank Add dialog box opens with no printer listed.

4. By the way, I have an HP laptop (nw8440) which will remain on Win7, and it sees the printer and prints to it just fine, so I know the printer is visible on the network, just not visible to the fresh Catalina installation.

5. As I type, I think this is more of an Apple Catalina problem than an HP Laserjet problem...or maybe a little of both?
