I upgraded to a 5GHZ network but was unable to connect to my printer. I had to have my cable company switch my router settings back to 2.4GHZ in order to get my printer to work. Is there upgrade or fix available or under construction to be able to be compatable with the 5GHZ network and if not why.

From my memory there are few new printers which support 5.0GHz networks but your printer only supports 2.4GHz networks. There is no upgrade to fix this.

2.4GHz wireless cards won't go away for few more years therefore they still sell Dual Band routers. In your case, allow router to broadcast both bands (not setting back to 2.4GHz), printer will connect (if you wish to keep your printer).

By the way, even upgrading your printer to 5.0GHz (if available) it won't print faster.

Regards.
