HP Deskjet 1112
macOS 10.12 Sierra

I have a new-in-box HP Deskjet 1112. I gifted it to a friend in need, but he never opened it and now I have it. I'm wondering if it will work with my MacBook Pro from 2013, OS 10.12.6 Sierra. It's not one of the three listed on the Deskjet box, and I don't want to open it if it's not going to work. I've been using an HP Deskjet 6122 for several years, unfancy and easy, but it's out of ink and new cartridges are over $100. Yowie. More than I can spend right now. Thanks for any help.

Hi,

The printer is compatible with macOS Sierra (10.12).

You should install the printer on your Mac using HP Easy Start below:

So . . . I followed the instructions word for word . . . seemed that all was going smoothly. When I tried to do the test print, I get an error message, doesn't recognize my computer, won't print. Tried three times. Dang it.

What exact error message is shown when you try to print from Word?

As you say it doesn't recognize your computer, but refer to printing (which should recognize a printer, not a computer).

Please provide information as detailed as possible, as what exact steps are taken, what exact error is shown, and when...
