Is my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus compatible with Windows 11? It works fine now with Windows 10, but I'm reluctant to upgrade to 11 unless I'm sure. I just invested in new ink and a new printer part, so I'd hate to buy another printer. If not, will there be a new Windows 11 driver for my printer soon ?

The 8600 is not in the list.
Windows 11 compatible HP printers
includes these "OfficeJet Pro 86xx" printer models:
HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 printers
HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 printers
HP OfficeJet Pro 8630 printers
HP OfficeJet Pro 8640 printers
HP OfficeJet Pro 8650 printers
HP OfficeJet Pro 8660 printers
These are not the older, venerable HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus
Your choice.
We do see a few of the older 8600 printers that are beginning to fail - more than last year, for example, but not a crush - just aging hardware after a long time in service. Excellent printers - one of the most popular models sold in its time.
If you are satisfied to run Windows 10 for a while, do that.
If not, it is perhaps time to start considering a replacement for your trusty 8600 printer.
What compares?
The top-of-line in this type of series is currently the OfficeJet Pro 9020 / 9025. For example, the 9025 includes single-pass duplex scanning (nice). Costs more than "lesser" models, of course. Worth a look if only to compare models.
No, the OfficeJet Pro 8600 will not be added to the list of printers compatible with Windows 11 (no new driver).

Thanks, Dragon Fur. If I need to buy a new all in one, which do you suggest? Does the Officejet 9500 allow USB wire connection, send and receive faxes from the printer, and have easy setup? I've read bad reviews about the setup. Thanks. Happy New Year.

You are welcome.
There is more than one "Officejet 9500" - one of the models is quite out of date (2103?) and the other is a Laser printer (I did not check the vintage) - the laser printer is an office / business printer and honestly, this is not my area to comment.
The OfficeJet Pro 8600 was one of the most popular and best featured models ever sold (my opinion). After years of service, many of these are finally seeing "end of service" for various reasons.
I have an OfficeJet Pro 9025 (at this writing). At the time I purchased it in 2019? (and possibly still today), this is a top-shelf printer. The price and the features reflect this, of course. The ADF likes to be clean (all printers want to be clean) and I've had one occasion of paper jam that was my own fault for fussing with the setup).
Were I you,
I'd start at the HP Store - the store sells many printers in each category (best / better / modest (in features and cost).
Other sellers sell versions of the models available though not always those in the "best" category.
Decide on the features you cannot live without - or simply start at the most expensive OfficeJet Pro models to see "what you could have".
Decide on a budget.
Work your way through the list.
When you see a printer that is in your budget, check to see what features it has compared to the top-of-line.
Compare and decide.
All the newest printers support Windows 11.
All the newest printers (to my knowledge) support both a more robust full driver printer software.
Assuming you purchase a printer that supports Ethernet or Wireless, most printers support HP Smart for Windows and supported mobile devices.
READ the tech notes for any printer that you like.
Open the printer homepage > Category Manuals > Read the User Guide
If you get stuck,
Ask about a particular model.
HP Store is very busy right now - in the USA, there are several options to contact (Phone / Chat / possibly Email).
You can also ask here in the Community - several of the Experts have newer models and can perhaps comment on at least the general features and what to expect from a similar model.

As a side note, if you download the latest driver definitions for Windows 11 it does show the following driver available:
I have no way to test functionality.

Thank you for your advice. That was a typo--I meant the model 9025.
If I download the driver you found for Windows 11 while I still have windows 10 with my 8600, will it foul up my 8600?
Can your 9025 connect by usb? Can you send/ receive faxes from the printer?
Was the setup easy? The reviews on Amazon are awful.
Again, thank you.

Looks like the 9025 has finally been discontinued.

The "e" version might still be available - this is the HP+ version of the 9025
Read the Specs section.

The Good and the Bad
Opinions vary - and everyone has a different experience.
My opinion:
I like the 9025 - the model compares quite well to previous models of the same ilk that I've used (OfficeJet Pro 8740 and the OfficeJet Pro 8630).
This is a full featured model in the line - other models are similar but differ in one or more areas.
Yes, it includes a fax
Yes, it includes SMTP control (upgraded Scan to Email, Sharepoint , network folder, and thumb drive)
Specs from the 9025e include:
Connectivity
============================================================================
The 9025 supports single-pass duplex print and scan from the ADF - not a feature found on "lesser models".
The 9025 prints on a variety of paper sizes and types, supports custom paper sizes, and is stable in my home office environment.
I don't find the printer difficult to manage nor is it difficult to use and the performance is solid.
That said, I have a very robust home network - the printer is connected via Ethernet - and I've had experience loading and reloading the printer software.
Someone else might have a completely different opinion.
I won't defend my experience nor will I gainsay the opinions of others.
