To resolve the issue where your HP DeskJet 2800 printer appears offline on your laptop but connects well with your phone, you can follow these steps:

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off and then turn on your printer, laptop, and router. This can help clear any temporary network issues.
  • Ensure your printer is connected to the same wireless network as your laptop. Check the network name (SSID) on both devices to ensure they match.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure your printer is within range of the router; ideally, it should be within 8 meters (26 feet).
  • Inspect the network connection lights on your printer:

Network Profile:

  • Change your laptop’s network profile to Private:
    • Click the network icon on the right side of the Windows taskbar.
    • Select 'Properties' under your connected network name.
    • Change the profile to Private if it’s set to Public.

Diagnose & Fix Tool:

  • Use the HP Smart app to diagnose and fix issues:
    • Open the HP Smart app and click the Diagnose & Fix icon.
    • Follow the instructions during the diagnostic process to resolve any detected issues.
  • If the HP Smart app is not installed, download it from the HP Smart - Microsoft Store or Mac App Store.

Remove and Re-add Printer in HP Smart:

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • On the app home screen, right-click the printer icon, and select "Hide Printer."
  • Click "Add Printer" or the plus sign to add the printer again.
