My smart tank 7305 cuts off the top of photos on 5x7 inch photo paper. Does it with ios and windows. Have tried multiple setting changes but issue continues. Prints on A4 without issue. Never had an issue like this with previous printers!

Hi @bbrteam,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue cutting off the top of photos on 5x7-inch photo paper could be caused by margin settings, print settings, or how the printer aligns the paper. Here are some steps to resolve the issue:

1. Check Photo Paper Placement

  • Ensure the photo paper is correctly aligned in the input tray.
  • Adjust the paper guides snugly against the edges of the 5x7 paper.
  • Verify that the glossy or printable side of the paper is facing down in the tray.

2. Printer Settings on HP Smart App or Driver

  • Open the HP Smart App or the print dialog on your computer.
  • Select 5x7 Photo Paper as the paper size and the correct paper type (e.g., glossy photo paper).
  • Check for the "Borderless Printing" option and enable it if available.

3. Margin Settings

  • If you're using an application to print (e.g., Photos on iOS or Windows Photo Viewer):
    • Open Page Setup or Print Settings.
    • Ensure margins are set to 0 or select Borderless Printing.
  • Avoid scaling or resizing the photo in the app unless necessary. Choose Fit to Page or a similar option.

4. Printer Firmware Update

  • Ensure the printer firmware is up-to-date:
    • Open the HP Smart App > Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Check for Updates.

5. Run Printer Alignment

  • Misaligned printheads can cause improper printing:
    • On the printer's control panel or HP Smart App, navigate to Settings > Tools > Align Printhead.

6. Custom Paper Size Adjustment

  • Some printers have slight variances with preset sizes. If your app or driver allows custom paper size, manually set it to 5x7 inches (127 x 178 mm) and retry.

7. Print from Another Application

  • Test printing from different software:
    • On iOS, try printing from a different app like Adobe Photoshop Express.
    • On Windows, use software like Microsoft Photos or Adobe Acrobat.

8. Reset Printer to Default Settings

  • Resetting can resolve configuration issues:
    • Settings > Restore Defaults on the printer's control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
