Hello,
My printer was working fine before I made an update to windows 10 (creators update). Each time I try to print Windows tells me that I need to install the driver. When I try to install the driver, it detect the wireless printer but can't connect or intall the driver. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled with compatibility of windows 8 but still the same. I've tried many options but no success such as:
- Turning off the firewall.
- Changing the IP address manually.
- Connecting the printer with USB cable.
Please help me.

Hello, @eys199 – Hope you are well 🙂
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a wonderful place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel!
I understand that you are facing issues with the printer after the Windows 10 update. Try to perform a clean install to try and fix the issue:
- First, unplug the USB cable from the printer, if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Restart your computer.
- Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
- Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
- Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer” – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".
- Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.
- Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (there is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Open run again, type “%temp%” and press enter to get the temporary files. Delete all the files here. Skip the items which cannot be deleted.
- Now restart your computer again.
- Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.
- Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.
- Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.
- Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well.
- Now, go to http://hp.care/2tR0Zad to download and install the software.
- Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
Let me know if that helps!
Cheers 🙂

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunetly, the steps you sent to me did not work. The printer still cannot be connected. I followed your solution step by step but it did not work. I attached the 2 messages that the installer is showing me every time.
I have another printer connected wirelessly to my PC (another brand than HP) and its working fine. I forgot to mention last time that I tried the HP doctor and I followed their steps but also no success. Please help.
I was trying many solution from HP website and I downloaded one software "HP Installation Failure - Unknown Device" and again, no success.
I got surprised when I downloaded the HP Smart software from Windows store. It is detecting the printer, showing the ink levels and I can make scan! But I cannot print! It's really confusing me. I hope you can help me.

Greetings @eys199, I am the @Chimney_83. It looks like you were interacting with @Dvortex, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
Thanks for the reply and trying a lot of steps.
As the printer is not getting detected over wireless, did you try to configure the printer over USB?
The reason, I ask this question is because, if you can configure the printer over USB, you can use the printer utility to convert it to wireless later. Click here. (This article does not mention Windows 10, it is still applicable for Windows 10 as well.)
If the issue persists, you can also try and configure the printer using Windows built-in drivers are well. Click here.
Keep me posted. Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply and trying the suggested step.
Recommend you uninstall the printer software again. Create a new user account on your computer with Admin rights.
Login to the new account. Download and install the printer and check.
If you are using a Desktop computer, please connect the printer USB cable to the rear of the desktop and check.
The front USB ports sometimes do not support high speed.
Keep me posted. Good Luck.

I made a new account and did as you said but again, no success.
I reset the printer to factory defaults and try to connect again with no luck. Even I reset the PC to factory defaults too, it worked at the beginning before Windows updates were installed. Then, after the updates, it stopped connecting. I can't get it, how the printer is visible and detected on the network but cannot be connected.
One thing I tried, to make sure that the printer itself not damaged, to print from a mobile phone on the same network and the printer worked fine.
