Hi @Miriam2222,

Thanks for sharing the details.

It sounds like your HP DeskJet 2800e printer is not switching back to printing via USB after using Wi-Fi. Here are some steps to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Check Printer Settings in Windows

Set the USB Printer as Default:

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select your HP DeskJet 2800e printer and ensure it's set to USB mode (the name might show as "HP DeskJet 2800e USB" or something similar).
  • Click on Set as default.

Remove Wi-Fi Printer:

  • If you see another entry for the same printer (likely from when you connected via Wi-Fi), remove it:
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
    • Click on the Wi-Fi printer entry and then select Remove device.

Clear the Print Queue:

  • In Printers & scanners, select the USB printer.
  • Click on Open print queue and clear all documents that are stuck.
  • You can right-click the documents in the queue and choose Cancel.

Step 2: Restart the Print Spooler Service

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Find Print Spooler in the list, right-click, and select Restart.
  3. After restarting, try printing again.

Step 3: Reinstall the Printer Driver

Remove the Printer:

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Click your HP DeskJet 2800e (USB) and select Remove device.

Uninstall Old Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button.
  • Expand Printers or Universal Serial Bus Controllers and uninstall any existing printer drivers related to your HP DeskJet 2800e.

Reinstall the Driver:

  • Disconnect the USB cable.
  • Download the latest drivers for your HP DeskJet 2800e from the HP Support website.
  • Install the driver, then reconnect the USB cable when prompted.

Step 4: Check the USB Cable & Port

  • Try a different USB port on your computer or use another USB cable to ensure there is no physical issue with the connection.

Step 5: Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug it back in, turn it on, and wait for it to fully boot up before trying to print.

Step 6: Update Windows

  • Ensure your Windows 10 is fully up to date. Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.

Step 7: Test Printing

  • Once the printer is reinstalled and set as the default, try printing a test document.

I am sharing reset steps in the next post.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, let me know if there are any specific error messages or behaviors, and I can assist further!

Hi @Miriam2222,

To reset your HP DeskJet 2800e series printer, you can perform a factory reset, which restores the printer to its original settings. Here's how:

Basic Reset (Power Cycle)

  1. Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for about 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and then to the printer.
  5. Turn the printer on by pressing the power button again.

Factory Reset (Restore to Original Settings)

  1. Turn on the printer if it's not already powered on.
  2. Press and hold the Cancel button (marked with an "X") and the Wireless button (or both Cancel and Resume) at the same time for about 10-15 seconds.
  3. The printer will reset, and the network settings, including Wi-Fi, will be restored to factory defaults.

After the reset, you'll need to set up the printer again as you did when you first installed it.

Keep me posted for further assistance
