I am experiencing the malware messages like so many others when I try to print. I've seen lots of information about the cause and the message that HP is working to fix the issue. I haven't seen the following information that would be helpful/

  1. How will the fixes be made available.
  2. Will all affected printers be fixed or only those of a certain age?
  3. When will the fixed drivers be available.

The solution is to download (and install) this package (From HP FTP) which will update drivers AND THE CERTIFICATE:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essen...
The install takes a bit. Let it run, even if it seems like it stalled out!

It is NOT the same as the driver package, Easy Start, or Easy Admin other people are recommending.

If the link comes up blank, try right clicking and saving it. If you install this package and still have trouble, try restarting. Then go about uninstalling your printer and reinstalling USING THIS METHOD ONLY: Apple Logo (Upper Left of Screen)/System Preferences/Printers & Scanners. Then restart your computer.

If you still can't find the printer, install the 5.1 driver package from HP: https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1888?locale=en_US

Then restart and try to install again through the Printers & Scanners menu.

Easy Admin did nothing. Easy Startup did nothing. 5.1 drivers did nothing. This worked for me!

If this solved your issue, please thumbs up and mark as solved!

That didn't fix the problem unfortunately... I get a message that hpd.framework is malware and can damage computer and the install fails at that point. I would recommend others move cautiously, I was able to print to another HP printer on the network, but can't access that printer anymore... Installing the print driver package also didn't help.... Thanks for trying but I think I'm going to set this aside for a few days and let the dust settle...

After a little bit of head scratching, I did the following;

  1. Uninstalled all the HP software.
  2. Downloaded the latest printer driver package and installed the 5.1 printer driver (The date was August 4, 2020). Still got the HPDM.framework is malware message. Clicked on OK a whole bunch of times and install eventually completed.
  3. Still got the error message regarding "HPDM.framework is malware".
  4.  Booted a parallels OSX machine that had no HP Software installed on it. Installed the driver package and got a clean install. Copied the HP Frameworks over the base system install. The errors went away and I can print. Not sure if I had deleted the frameworks at the beginning whether they would have installed clean, but I suspect they would have.

Thanks for the clues, although I had to modify the steps a little the clue was the links to the HP updated drivers.

Hi,

Can you tell me where I can find the option to "delete the frameworks?" Is this an option you can select when installing the 5.1 driver package?

Best,

Aimee

Hi Aimee,

Once I installed the 5.1 driver package and tried to print, I got an error message that HPDM.Framework was malware and the message offered to to display it in finder. I took that option and deleted it there. I only had to do that on one computer, while my macBook worked after installing the print driver.

To remove all the software do the following:

1. Download HP Easy Start

2. Open HP Easy Start and Select the HP Easy Start Menu in the macOS menu bar.  In this menu select Uninstall HP Software.

3.Select Continue to start the Uninstall process

4. Once the uninstall completes. You should be okay to install the driver....

Hope that helps....
