You absolutely can still use your HP Photosmart C4680 on a modern laptop, but there’s something important to know: HP no longer provides new drivers for Windows 10 or Windows 11 for this older Photosmart series. However, it does still work using:

✅ Windows’ built‑in driver

✅ OR the last available HP Full‑Feature driver (Windows 7 version installed in compatibility mode)

Below is the clear path to get your printer working.

1) First Option: Use Windows Built‑in Driver (Recommended for Windows 10/11)

Windows 10/11 can install a basic print/scan driver automatically when you connect via USB.

HP confirms that if the Photosmart C4680 has no Win11 driver, Windows will install the best available driver by itself.

👉 Steps:

1. Connect the printer to your laptop using a USB cable.
2. Windows will automatically detect it and begin installing drivers.
3. After a minute or two, try printing a test page.

This works for almost all users.

2) Second Option: Install HP Full Feature Driver (Windows 7 version)

Even though HP doesn’t provide Windows 11 drivers, you can install the last official driver in Compatibility Mode.
