@Shemp3, Welcome to HP Support Community!
To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:
- When you mention vanished, are you not able to see the printer under printers and scanners?
- Is there any error message on the screen?
- Is there any antivirus software installed on your computer?
- How are the devices connected?

Without connecting you can only download and not complete the installation.
