Printer failing to connect to my iPhone

Hi ! I'm having a bit of trouble getting my HP Envy printer5540 set up. I’ve already tried re-entering the password and turning the printer off and on, but I'm still running into some issues. It's been a reliable printer for years, so I’m not sure what’s going on. Do you have any tips or advice on how I can fix this? Thanks a bunch!

Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you connect your HP Envy 5540 printer to your iPhone:

Check Network Connection

• Ensure that your printer and iPhone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
• If you’re using a dual-band router, check that both devices are on the same frequency (2.4GHz or 5GHz).

Restart Everything

• Turn off your printer, iPhone, and router.
• Wait for about 30 seconds, then turn them back on.
• Try reconnecting your iPhone to the printer.

Ensure AirPrint is Enabled

• The HP Envy 5540 supports AirPrint, which allows iPhones to print without extra software.
• On your printer, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings, and make sure Wi-Fi Direct is enabled.

Forget and Reconnect Wi-Fi

• On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
• Tap on your Wi-Fi network, then select Forget This Network.
• Reconnect by entering your Wi-Fi password.

Try Printing Using AirPrint

1. Open the file or document you want to print on your iPhone.
2. Tap Share (square with an arrow).
3. Select Print.
4. Choose your HP Envy 5540 from the list.
5. If it doesn’t appear, tap Select Printer and wait for it to show up.

Reset Network Settings on Printer

• On the printer, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults.
• Then, reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi through the Wireless Setup Wizard.

Check for Firmware Updates

• On your printer, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.
• On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

Use HP Smart App

• Download and install the HP Smart app from the App Store.
• Open the app and add your printer.
• Follow the setup instructions in the app.
