HP Support Assistant indicates Firmware Update available, Ready  to download and install. This is the third time! Previous attempts failed to install. Computer and printer both work fine. The same thing happened to  previous firmware update.  Windows update says no updates available. Any solution? Delete? Why the update? I thought Windows keeps firmware updates current?

I'd recommend you download the Firmware from here- https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/en5000_2025A/EN5000_2025A.exe and install it.

This is the most recent version of the firmware with code 2025A.

 

Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware for help.

This is the most recent version of the firmware with code 2025A.

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the firmware update from the link you provided and unbelieveably the firmware update.installed. (our third try) I don't know why, but Windows Defender always pops  up and blocks the install. I had to click on accept/ok. I used the HP Smart Assistant to check for updates. (the printer firmware still shows). I hoped the notification would be cancelled.   However, the HP Support Assistant still says printer firmware update  is available. This is what is so frustrating, My HP Desktop and Printer work great. The only problem is software. Solution? Thanks for the help.

That could be an issue with the HP Support Assistant, just uninstall and reinstall it.
