I continue to get messages of "printer in error state" or "error printing on HP Officejet. Windows 10 completely updated yesterday. I have uninstalled/reinstalled printer and used Printer Scan Doctor numerous times, seems that there has been a printer que issue at times. All computer/printer wireless communication systems seem OK. Have even stopped and started printer spool and manually entered printer IP address. Nothing seems to work....

Thanks. I had already done that....a couple of times, with no solution. I did get the issue fixed by uninstalling a bunch of stuff, including all printers, scanners and software that applied. I also eliminated a few other programs that I did not use. I then carefully reinstalled my HP OfficeJet 4655 printer and the Print/Scan Doctor software. But still no printer! Bizarre!!
Went back to Program Manager and there I think I saw and solved the problem. Don't really know, but I thinks that's where the final issue lived. I deleted a couple of printers that I didn't even have and activated the 4655 again....for the third time. I guess that's the "charm" because the print part started to work. Hooray! But...the scanner didn't. I fixed that by going to Windows and downloading a scanner program from there....and now it works. The scanner has a different "look" to it now, but it works great and I prefer the new one to the old one. I really don't know what fixed things., but both printer and scanner are now working well.
Thanks for the response. I am absolutely no expert in these things, knowing just enough to be dangerous. But I have learned over time that a thorough uninstalling action to clear "stuff" out is usually a good first step. I bet I spent a good 7-8 hours total wrestling this problem! To folks like me, computer issues can "eat" time faster than a kid can eat ice cream at a birthday party!
Thanks again for the response....I do appreciate it!! .....Dave

Hi,
Try following below version of the HP Print and Scan Doctor Utility by selecting your printer:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe
Be sure to restart your PC and allow the utility to complete the process, then check for any difference.
Try printing and check for any change, if the same remains try printing using the newly added print queue copy and check.
