Officejet 8610e
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear HP Community, I have a question:
I wanted to install my Officejet 8610 on a second PC as a network printer (the PC has a Windows 10 - 64 bit operating system).
The installation was also successful because I received the message "Setup complete .... your printer is connected and ready to print".
To make sure that the printer also works, I selected the device in the Control Panel and tried to print the test page.
Here I received the following error message: "The test page could not be printed. Do you want to display the print troubleshooting?% 1 is not a valid Win32 application".
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
Thank you in advance for the help.

P.S. Please don't be surprised if the English wording sounds a bit strange ..... the Google translator was definitely doing his best.
It would also be great if someone could answer in German.

Hi,

A such would likely occur due to any permissions related issues with the computer.

May you have ByteFence Anti-malware or any similar application by any chances? It’s icon looks as following:

Also, please try printing to the Microsoft Save as PDF virtual printer, can it successfully create a PDF file?

Hi,

Thank You for contacting HP.

I cannot answer in German, however I can try to help you with the issue.

Looks like the printer was on network and the installation was complete, so you need to add the printer with its IP Address.

Please follow the steps in the link below:-

Get the printer's IP Address

  • On the Printer Home Screen, select Set Up.
  • Select Network Set Up,
  • Select Wireless Settings.
  • Look for View Wireless details, select it.
  • The printer here displays the IP Address. (e.g - 10.0.0.23,,, 192.168.2.3)
  • Make a note of the IP Address.

Add the printer.

1) Go to Control Panel > Printers.

2) Click on Add a Printer.

3) Click on "The printer that I want isn't listed".

4) Choose the option "add a printer using TCP/IP address" > next.

5) Device Type as "Standard TCP/IP printer > Enter the IP address. >next

6) Choose HP from the Manufacturers list. then choose the HP OJ 8600 or Universal print drivers or HP DJ 1000 printers.

7)Click next> choose "replace the existing drivers"> next

😎 keep clicking next and finish.

9) Try printing and check.

Hello Shlomi, thank you for the quick response.

I use F-Secure Save for virus protection. The program is also installed on my other PC and here the printing over the network works with the HP Officejet 8610.

I tested the functionality of the Microsoft virtual printer. The PDF file was created successfully.
