HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2136 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Recently changed laptops.  The printer still works fine on old laptop but does not print on new laptop.  Scan feature works fine on both laptops.  The printer is showing as "Ready", press print, the print queue icon comes on and then goes off, nothing in the queue, nothing prints.  Old laptop is also an HP device, new laptop is a Samsung.

I have updated the drivers, and downloaded the Print and Scan Doctor.  No problems reported.

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

 

The printer is a simple device -- no wireless, simple USB cable connection.

 

Perhaps needs software.

 

System side -- check:  Windows Updates,  check / rebuild the printer queue.

 

If you have not done so,

In addition to the HP Smart application,

Install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.

HP DeskJet 2130 series Print and Scan Driver and Accessories 

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

If you have not done so,

Check whether the printer queue is cleared and ready to be used.

 

Example,

 

First, check that Windows Update does not need to install updates (or Restart)

Settings > Update and Security > Check for Updates

NOTE:  If an update is already pending, install that update > Restart the computer and log in

 

Next

If the current print job will not cancel or if a previous print job is stuck in the queue,

and

If the issue is due to Print Services being stuck / hung / corrupted, Restart the Print Service

Windows Start > Search for “Services

Side Bar -- Optionally Right-Click and Pin to Start / Taskbar > Open Services App

Control Panel > icon view > Administrative Tools > Services

 

Next,

Scroll down, find, Right-Click, and Stop Print Spooler Service

 

Open File Explorer (formally Windows Explorer)

 

Navigate to the PRNTERS folder

NOTE:  Folder might be hidden.

 

C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS

OR

C:\Windows\System\spool\PRINTERS

 

Delete any files found in folder 

Start Print Spooler Service

Uninstall the old driver in Control Panel, "Programs and Features", then remove

all occurrences in Program and Program X86, in Control Panel, right click on your old printer

(If it is still there, chances are that it is no longer there) ''Remove'' if it is present.

Restart the PC, connect the printer to the mains, connect a USB cord on the PC side, on the printer you

will connect during installation ONLY when prompted.

Start installing your printer, by right-clicking on the Setup. downloaded driver exe, installed ''en

as administrator'', let the installation take place, at the end, restart the PC.

To create a shortcut on the Windows desktop, open Control Panel, right-click on your

new printer, create shortcut, on the desktop, yes.

A new shortcut has been created on the Windows desktop.

Turn on your printer, print a test page. That's it, your printer is working again.
