macOS 11.0 Big Sur

I am trying to install the printer but it has been stuck on the Registering stage for a long time with no signs of progressing.

I'd like to help!

 

I understand you are unable to install the printer.

 

To assist better-

 

  1. What device are you using the printer with, a Windows computer, Mac, Android, or an iPhone? 
  2. Could you share an image of the screen that you are stuck on?
  3. Are you trying to install the HP Easy Satrt?
  4. How is the printer connected to USB or wireless?

Thank you for your message. 

I am using a MacBook Pro 2017, and it is stuck on the registering page in HP Smart. It is connected using WiFi.

Please help me with the below information-

 

  1. Did you install the HP smart from the HP website or the App store?
  2. What is the mac os version on your computer?
  3. How is the printer connected to the device USB or wireless?

I installed HP Smart via the App Store I think. It is macOS Big Sur 11.5.2 and it is connected to the device wirelessly.

Try and uninstall the HP Smart

 

If downloaded from the Mac App Store please remove /Users/Username/Library/Containers/HP Smart/containers.plist and then launch HP Smart from the Applications folder and go through the setup again.

 

To update the printer's firmware, refer - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware 

 To update Mac, try these steps - How to update the software on your Mac

 

And install the HP Smart from the app store.

 

If the issue persists, Download HP Easy Start (under the installation software and full-featured/ basic driver tab) and follow the on-screen to complete the installation.
