I was happily printing with my Direct AB HP 2700e printer but suddenly it unlinked itself from my PC and the information light came on.

I have tried numerous ways to get it restarted and the latest information I have from HP is that 'it is out of warranty and there are no drivers available'

Very odd as I have another HP 2700e which was purchased at the same time and it is working OK.

HP do not appear to be interested in fixing the problem.

Please can anyone help?

Hi @Lewis2438,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2700e printer is disconnected or not recognized by your PC, follow these steps to troubleshoot and restore the connection:

1. Check Printer Status

  • Ensure the printer is turned on and displays no error messages or blinking lights.
  • Confirm the printer is properly connected to the same wireless network as your PC.

2. Update Printer Firmware

  1. Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  2. Enter your printer model and download the latest firmware.
  3. Follow on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

3. Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

  • Use the HP Smart app:
    1. Open the HP Smart app on your PC.
    2. Choose "Printer Setup" and follow the prompts to reconnect to the network.

4. Use Wi-Fi Direct for Connection

  1. Print a Printer Information Page to get the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.
    • Press the Information button on the printer.
  2. Select Wi-Fi on your PC, find the printer network (e.g., DIRECT-xx-HP DeskJet 2700 series), and connect using the Wi-Fi Direct password.

5. Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Uninstall existing drivers and reinstall them from the HP website:
    1. Go to HP Software and Driver Downloads.
    2. Enter your printer model, download, and install the latest drivers.

6. Check Router and Network Connection

  • Restart your router and ensure a stable internet connection.
  • Use a different network channel if interference is suspected.

7. Check USB/Network Cables

  • For wired connections, inspect the cables for damage and ensure secure connections.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a blissful day 😇.
