I have installed and uninstalled my printer several times and it isn't working! It prints only part of the page or not at all. The services keep in stopping even if I start them up again. I even tried to turn off firewall to see if it would work and briefly, I was able to print one page. I want my printer to work.

@Kristine727, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Deskjet 2540 is facing a combination of driver, service, and connectivity issues on Windows 11. Here are some steps to resolve the issue:
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Let it diagnose and fix common issues with drivers, connectivity, and spooler services.
Reset the Print Spooler Service
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Scroll down and find Print Spooler.
- Right-click Print Spooler and select Stop.
- Open File Explorer and go to:C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
- Delete all files inside this folder (don’t delete the folder itself).
- Go back to the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.
Perform a Clean Installation of the Printer Driver
- Uninstall the printer from Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
- Expand Print queues, right-click your HP Deskjet 2540, and click Uninstall device.
- Restart your PC.
- Go to HP Deskjet 2540 drivers page.
- Download and install the Full Feature Software.
Disable SNMP on the Printer Port (Fixes Partial Printing Issues)
- Press Win + R, type control, and hit Enter to open the Control Panel.
- Go to Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP printer and select Printer properties.
- Click the Ports tab and find the port checked for your printer.
- Click Configure Port and uncheck SNMP Status Enabled.
- Click OK and Apply.
Check Windows Firewall & Security Software
Since you mentioned disabling the firewall helped briefly, try allowing HP services:
- Press Win + R, type firewall.cpl, and hit Enter.
- Click Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.
- Find HP Printer or related services and ensure they are allowed through both Private and Public networks.
Test Printing with Different Software
Try printing from Notepad instead of other apps. If Notepad prints fine, the issue might be related to the software you’re printing from.
I hope this helps. 🚀
Take care and have a good day.
