Hello... Ever since I updated my operating system a week or so ago, my printer and computer have not been talking to each other. I keep getting an error message.  I've noticed others have been having the same issue.  Is there a fix?  I've already tried to clear my printer and re-add it again, with no luck.  HP Photosmart C4480

Thank you

@KristiD7, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To provide you with an accurate solution, I would like to know the following:

What is the exact error message you get when you try to print?

How are the printer and computer connected to each other?

Do you have any antivirus/security software installed on the computer?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

My computer is a Mac...I have Malwarebytes installed

I don't think this is a connection issue.

Everything was working without any problem ... then, I updated my computer to the new OS... and instantly ... I can no longer print.

Others have had similar issues after upgrading from what I have read.

*I have cleared all printers and tried to re-add them. No luck.  No printers even showed up despite me being connected to my printer.

Thanks for helping,

Kristi

Disable the malware bytes and follow the steps below-

1.) Download and install HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X from here.

2.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

3.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign  to delete the printer.

4.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list.

5.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

6.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

7.) Try to print.

Let me know if this helps.
