We understand how frustrating it can be when your HP Smart Tank 520 All-in-One Printer refuses to print, especially when you're relying on it for important tasks. Let’s walk through this together.

Troubleshooting Steps for No Print Output

Here are the steps recommended by HP to resolve printing issues:

1. Check Ink Levels and Printhead Installation

  • Ensure all ink tanks are at least half full.
  • Open the front door and confirm the printhead carriage latch is securely closed.
  • If the latch is open, gently push it down to lock it.
  • Make sure the printheads are properly seated and that all protective tape has been removed.


2. Run a Printhead Cleaning Cycle

  • From the printer control panel, navigate to Settings > Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • After cleaning, try printing a test page.


3. Check for Error Lights or Codes


4. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall and printer.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
