My very reliable HP Officejet 6700 premium printer works fine with my old Dell XPS. I have now replaced my Dell with an HP Z4 G4 Workstation. And the workstation insists that my printer is offline. It is not, however, because it still works fine with my XPS.
How do I get my HP workstation work with my HP printer?
The printer is connected to my computer via line, not WiFi. I have yet to purchase and connect a WiFi adaptor to my Workstation.

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you are getting printer offline error, I am glad to assist you.
Follow these steps to fix the issue:-
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix connectivity and printing issues.
Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
-
Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
-
Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
-
If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
-
If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
-
-
If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
-
If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.
-
Try to print.

Connection via USB or network, your post just says line.
Check the type of port the driver is using as well as the type of driver. Microsoft IPP drivers are problematic and if the driver is using a WSD port that is another factor as well. The problem rests in the fact that the WSD drivers often do not update status after a offline event such as dropped connection or printer error and the printer then appears offline until restarted. If network connections better to use a standard TCP/IP port. I also recommend a static IP address or a reserved DHCP address.
