When going to print mode to print a picture, I want to go to "more settings" to change how I print, i.e. color to greyscale, etc. The "More Setting" HP Smart page pops up for a few seconds showing the options then all the options to choose from disappears before I can pick what I want. What's going on???

Hi @Paul9871,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
The issue you’re experiencing with the HP Smart app, where the "More Settings" page options disappear before you can select them, is likely due to a software glitch or compatibility issue with Windows 11. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:
Step 1: Update the HP Smart App
- Check for Updates:
- Go to the Microsoft Store.
- Search for HP Smart and check if there is an update available.
- Update the app to the latest version.
Step 2: Reset the HP Smart App
- Reset the App:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
- Scroll down and find HP Smart.
- Click on it, then select Advanced Options.
- Click Reset to reset the app settings. This can resolve many app-related issues.
Step 3: Reinstall the HP Smart App
- Uninstall the App:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
- Find HP Smart and click Uninstall.
- Reinstall the App:
- Go to the Microsoft Store, search for HP Smart, and install the latest version of the app.
Step 4: Adjust Print Settings from Windows Print Dialog
- Use the Windows Print Dialog:
- Instead of using the HP Smart app, try printing directly from your document viewer (e.g., Photos app, Word, etc.).
- Press Ctrl + P to open the print dialog.
- Select your printer, then click Printer Properties or Preferences.
- Adjust the settings (such as switching to grayscale) from this menu.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Paul9871,
Please find the remaining steps below.
Step 5: Check for Windows Updates
- Update Windows 11:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.
- Make sure your system is up to date as updates can fix compatibility issues.
Step 6: Use HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- This tool can automatically detect and fix common printing and scanning problems.
Step 7: Set the Default Print Settings from Control Panel
- Open Control Panel:
- Type Control Panel in the Windows search bar and open it.
- Devices and Printers:
- Click on Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP DeskJet 4155e and select Printing Preferences.
- Set your default preferences (like grayscale or paper type) from this menu and click Apply.
Step 8: Disable Any Conflicting Software
- Disable Conflicting Apps:
- Sometimes, third-party security or print management software can interfere. Try disabling or temporarily uninstalling any such software to see if it resolves the issue.
These steps should help you access the "More Settings" options without them disappearing. If the problem persists, there could be a specific compatibility issue with your system that might require further assistance. Contact HP phone support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
