Exactly the same here. I followed the partial reset instructions and my printer almost fully reset. Instant ink still reactivated and everything still works except for the annoying attempts to download updates which keep happening. Every time I want to print anything I find the printer is offline again!

Well, I see there's now an update for the 8022 at https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8020-all-in-one-printer-series/242... v001.2314A dated 16th May - I've downloaded this, but I can't update my printer (the printer is detected, but the status is "Not applicable" and the checkbox can't be selected). Printer still showing as firmware v001.2243A... *SIGH*

The above update worked for me (8020 pro). I'll check in the next few days if I'm finally out of the "update failed" loop.

This continued until I saw a reference to "HP Software Assistant" on another thread - turns out it's actually called "HP Support Assistant" (see https://support.hp.com/gb-en/help/hp-support-assistant).

I used this to check for all available updates (there were more than just the firmware), download & install them, and that seems to have applied the update at last - won't really know until tomorrow if the loop has been closed though!

Cheers

Michael

I applied the firmware update yesterday, and the printer is working again.

Happy to confirm that the loop has finally been closed - no more "update failed to download"! 😁

The fix is hidden in previous pages. I confirm I just successfully applied it:

HP official website won't point to this on France version. it will only point to HP Smart.
