Hi all,

My Officejet Pro 6970 prints from my mobile phone, but not from my windows laptop. I have tried several suggested sollitions, but nothing worked so far.

When I print from my mobile phone both the printer and the phone are on the same wifi network. When I want to print from my laptop it is connected through LAN and the printer to the same network but then through wifi. In the past the printer worked fine this way.

Does anyone know what is the problem?

Kind regards, Hugo

Hi @HugoZ,

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 is printing from your mobile phone but not from your desktop computer. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check Printer Network Connection

On your printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > Print Reports > Network Configuration Page.

Confirm the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network and note the printer’s IP address.

Test Network Communication

On your desktop, press Windows + R, type cmd, and press Enter.

Type ping [printer’s IP address] and press Enter.

If the test fails or shows “Request timed out,” your desktop and printer may be on different network segments.

Ensure Both Devices Are on the Same Network

Check that your desktop (LAN) and printer (Wi-Fi) are connected to the same network name (SSID).

If your router has a setting for “AP Isolation” or “Client Isolation,” make sure it is turned off so wired and wireless devices can communicate.

Reinstall the Printer on Your Desktop

Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners.

Remove your HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 and select Add a printer or scanner.

If not detected automatically, choose Add manually > Add a printer using TCP/IP address and enter the printer’s IP address.

Use the HP Smart App for Setup

Install or open the HP Smart app on your desktop.

Sign in and select Add Printer.

Enter the printer’s IP address when prompted to complete the connection.

I hope this helps.
