HP Printer 1505n

After I scan an image, it prints out smaller than the original. I get the same result whether I set the printer to Actual size or 100%. The printer inage is either 1/8 or 1/4 inch smaller than the original.

Hi @22windrider,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how frustrating it must be to scan and print an image only to find that it does not match the original size—it can be especially inconvenient when precision matters.

  • Are you using the same paper size for printing as the original scanned document?
  • Have you noticed this issue with all scanned images, or does it happen with specific file formats or settings?
  • Are you scanning and printing directly from the printer or using software like HP Smart or another application?

Let's try these steps.

Verify Scan Settings:

  • Check the scanning software or printer interface for resolution and scaling options.
  • Ensure the scan is set to 100% or Actual Size without any scaling applied during the scanning process.

Adjust Printer Settings:

  • Open the print dialog and verify that Page Scaling or Fit to Page is turned off.
  • Ensure the paper size in the print settings matches the paper in the tray and the size of the original scanned document.

Update Printer Firmware and Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest firmware and driver updates for your LaserJet 1505n.
  • After updating, restart both your printer and computer to apply the changes.

Print from a Different Application:

  • Try printing the scanned image using a different application (e.g., Adobe Reader for PDFs or a photo viewer for images).
  • Ensure the print settings in the application are set to Actual Size or No Scaling.

Recreate the Scanned Image with Adjusted DPI:

  • When scanning, try increasing the DPI (dots per inch) to ensure a higher-quality and more accurate image size.
  • Test printing the new scan to see if the size matches the original.

Keep me posted for further assistance
