I have a DeskJet 2720 wireless printer. My printer keeps printing 4x6 or 5x7 instead of 8x10-8.5×11.
When I need to print its always small. How do you get it to print large print. Also I get an error message 2.

Hi @Troysp62,
Thank you for your response,
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.
- Check Paper Settings: Make sure that the paper size and type settings on both your printer and the HP Smart App match the physical paper you're using. Ensure that it's set to Letter size (8.5x11 inches) and that the paper type matches the actual paper you have loaded in the printer.
- Clear Paper Jams: If the paper is getting stuck and causing the E2 error, check for any paper jams or obstructions in the paper path. Remove any stuck paper carefully to avoid damaging the printer.
- Reset Printer: Try performing a reset on your printer to see if it resolves the issue. You can usually do this by turning off the printer, unplugging it from the power source, waiting a few minutes, and then plugging it back in and turning it on again.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues with apps or devices.
- Reinstall HP Smart App: If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart App on your device. This can help ensure that the app is functioning correctly and communicating properly with your printer.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with your HP DeskJet 2720 printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Troysp62,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there might be a couple of issues at play here: the print size settings and the error message you're receiving. Let's tackle them one by one.
Print Size Settings: When you're printing, make sure you've selected the correct paper size and print settings on your computer or mobile device. Here's how you can adjust the print size settings.
- Open the document or image you want to print.
- Go to the print settings menu. This can usually be accessed by clicking on "File" > "Print."
- In the print settings menu, look for options like "Paper Size" or "Media Size." Select the appropriate paper size for your document (e.g., Letter size for 8.5x11 inches).
- Additionally, check the print settings for any scaling options. Ensure that the scaling is set to 100% or "Actual Size" to prevent the document from being printed smaller than intended.
- Once you've adjusted the settings, initiate the print job.
Error Message 2: The error message you're receiving could indicate a problem with the printer itself. Error messages can vary depending on the printer model, so it's important to consult the printer's manual for specific troubleshooting steps. However, here are some general steps you can try.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again. This can sometimes reset the printer and clear error messages.
- Check the printer's display or control panel for any additional information accompanying the error message. This might provide clues as to what the problem is.
- Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer's paper path. Clear any jams and ensure that the paper is loaded correctly.
- If the error persists, consult the printer's manual for specific troubleshooting steps related to Error Message 2.
By adjusting the print size settings and addressing any error messages, you should be able to print your documents in the desired size without encountering issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello. Thank you for reaching back to me. After ive reset my printer and put my current user name and new password, this is what my printer is doing . The printer stays in 5x7 print mode instead of 8.5x 11! Everytime i try too print from the HP Smart App and change the print size from 5x7 to LETTER, the paper gets stuck, and the ORANGE LITE starts to blink and the panel displays E2. Also it keeps says paper is mixed matched. Now the printer will print 5x7 and the paper will go through. Hope this help in getting me some help. My printer is a 2720 HP DESKJET WIRELESS.
