Hi all,
I have a HP DeskJet 2652 printer. As of last week i was able to print very easily.Under "more settings" and then to scale i could choose "Fit to Printable Area",this option has now dissapeared,i no longer see it!
I have tried many ways to retrieve it but to no avail. On the Chromebook help site(I am using a HP Chromebook)someone responded suggesting that HP might have deleted or added to the driver, has anyone heard of this and if so is it possible that it could be retrieved?Thank you all.Rolenti64

It's possible that a recent update or change in the printer's driver or firmware could have affected the availability of the "Fit to Printable Area" option. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve this issue on your HP DeskJet 2652 printer:
1. Check for Updates
Chromebook Updates:
- Ensure your Chromebook is up to date with the latest version of Chrome OS. Go to Settings > About Chrome OS > Check for updates.
Printer Firmware Update:
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. You can do this through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP Support website.
2. Reset Printing System on Chromebook
- Reset Printer Settings:
- Go to Settings > Advanced > Printing > Printers.
- Remove your HP DeskJet 2652 printer from the list.
- Re-add the printer and see if the missing option reappears.
3. Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Remove and Reinstall Printer:
- Remove the printer from your Chromebook’s settings as described above.
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest driver or software for your printer model.
- Reinstall the printer following the instructions provided.
4. Use HP Smart App
- Print Using HP Smart App:
- Download and install the HP Smart app from the Google Play Store on your Chromebook.
- Add your HP DeskJet 2652 printer to the app and try printing from there. The HP Smart app often provides more detailed settings and options for printing.
5. Alternative Printing Methods
Google Cloud Print (if applicable):
- Although Google Cloud Print was deprecated, some older Chromebooks might still have access to it or similar cloud printing services. Ensure you’re using the latest printing method available for Chrome OS.
Use PDF Workaround:
- As a temporary workaround, you can save your document as a PDF.
- Open the PDF and look for scaling options within the PDF viewer’s print dialog.
6. Factory Reset the Printer
- Reset Printer:
- Sometimes, resetting the printer to its factory settings can resolve issues caused by updates or changes. Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on performing a factory reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
