Hi @ArleenV

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I truly appreciate the effort you've already put in—having a solid blue Wi-Fi light tells us the connection is strong, which is a great start. Let's now focus on clearing the error and refreshing the communication between your printer and Windows system.

Thanks for confirming the printer is well connected. Let's walk through a few precise steps to clear the "error state" and get you printing smoothly again.

Restart all devices in this order:

  • Turn off your printer using the power button. If it doesn’t respond, unplug it from the power source.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router.
  • Once everything is back on, power on the printer last.

Reconnect your computer to the same Wi-Fi network:

  • Ensure your PC is connected to the exact same network name (SSID) as your printer.
  • Avoid guest or 5GHz networks if your printer only supports 2.4GHz.

Run Diagnose & Fix from the HP App:

  • Open the HP App on your Windows PC.
  • Select your printer, then click “Printer Settings” > “Advanced Settings”.
  • Choose “Diagnose & Fix” and let it scan and resolve any issues.
  • If you don’t have the HP App yet, you can install it from the Microsoft Store or directly from HP's official page:
    https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_3666269-3612259-16
(This link opens the guide for using Diagnose & Fix in the HP App.)

Clear print queue and reset print spooler:

  • On your PC, open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer and select “See what’s printing”.
  • Cancel all documents in the queue.
  • Then, right-click the printer again and choose “Remove device”.
  • Re-add the printer by selecting “Add a printer” and follow the prompts.

Check for Windows updates:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.
  • Restart your PC afterward.

Reinstall the printer driver:

  • Visit the official HP support page for your printer model.
  • Download the full feature software and driver package.
  • Uninstall the current printer software from Apps & Features, then reinstall using the freshly downloaded package.

If the error persists after these steps, try printing a Network Configuration Page directly from the printer’s control panel. This helps verify the printer’s IP and connectivity status.

Let’s bring back that satisfying hum of a working printer. If you’d like help with any of the steps above, I’m right here to guide you through them.
