I keep having to re-register my printer.  It isn't used often.  Today when i open the link and fill in the reg forms then try to open the link it goes back to device set up.  How do I stop this and use my printer?

@dave_p, You're welcome! Since you use the printer rarely, it's possible that it's losing connection due to inactivity, auto-sleep, or HP Smart glitches. When you try again, follow the steps I mentioned, and hopefully, it works without needing to re-register every time.

Please do keep us posted.

I will be archiving this case for now however, you can respond to the same thread to continue the conversation.

@dave_p, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP DeskJet 2632 keeps losing its registration, forcing you to go through the setup process repeatedly. This issue is often due to connectivity problems, account-related issues, or HP Smart software misbehaving.
Also, HP Deskjet 2632 supports Windows 11.

Try these steps to fix it:

Check Internet Connection & Router Settings

  • If your printer is wireless, ensure it has a stable Wi-Fi connection.
  • Restart your router and printer.
  • If your network uses dual-band Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is connected to 2.4GHz (not 5GHz).
  • Assign a static IP address to your printer through your router settings (check in your router’s DHCP settings).

Remove & Reinstall the Printer Correctly

Remove Printer:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP DeskJet 2632 and select Remove Device.

Uninstall HP Smart & Drivers:

  • Press Win + R, type appwiz.cpl, and uninstall HP Smart & HP drivers.
  • Restart your PC.

Reinstall HP Smart:

  • Download the latest version from HP website.
  • Re-add the printer using HP Smart.

Use USB Instead of Wireless (if possible)

If you rarely use the printer, consider using a USB connection instead of Wi-Fi. This avoids network-related registration issues.

Ensure HP Account & Instant Ink (if applicable) is Set Up Properly

  • Log in to HP Smart and check if your printer is correctly registered.
  • If you use HP Instant Ink, ensure your subscription is active and linked to the correct account.

Disable Auto Power-Off & Sleep Mode

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Energy Saving and disable Auto Power-Off.
  • If the printer disconnects frequently, increase the Sleep Mode timeout.

Try a Manual Connection

  • Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Power buttons on the printer for 3 seconds.
  • Reconnect to your network manually using HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Thanks for the reply.  Nothing changes, 2.4 GHz connection stable.

Will try your suggestions next time I try to use it, which is very rarely.

I will let you know what happens.

As I said above, can't get Win 11 on my equipment.

Can't see HP Smart or HP Drivers.

Will try uninstall etc when i next try to use it

Came to use the printer this week.  Ended up removing as one of recommendations, thanks.

Ridiculous that i've purchased something then essentially can't use it when i want.  Mostly bought for scanning, which I don't seem able to use without the printer assist.  Anyway, I'll maybe remember in future!
