I recently purchased a HP Officejet Pro 7740 printer. It has two paper trays to print from and I am trying to get my computer to recognize the 2nd tray.

Hi @SEXXXY,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To get your computer to recognize the second paper tray on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-In-One Printer, you'll need to follow these steps.
Install the Printer Software: Make sure that you have installed the appropriate printer software and drivers on your computer. You can usually find the necessary software and drivers on the HP website. Go to the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest drivers for your operating system.
Access Printer Properties:
- On a Windows computer, go to "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers." Right-click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer and select "Printer Properties" or "Properties."
- On a Mac, go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners." Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer and click the "Options & Supplies" button.
Configure Paper Trays:
- In the printer properties window, look for a tab or section related to paper settings or trays. The exact location of this option may vary depending on your printer driver and operating system.
- You should see an option to specify the paper source or tray. Select the second paper tray if it's listed, and set it as the default tray for printing.
Apply Settings and Test:
- After selecting the second tray as the default, click "Apply" or "OK" to save the settings.
- To test if the computer recognizes the second tray, open a document and try to print. Make sure to select the correct paper size and type for the second tray in your print settings.
Check Printer Display: Sometimes, printers like the HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 have a display panel that allows you to configure paper tray settings directly on the printer. Check the printer's display for any tray-related settings or options and make sure the second tray is properly configured.
Printer Firmware Update: It's a good idea to check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP website. Updating the printer firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve functionality.
By following these steps and ensuring that your printer drivers are up to date, you should be able to get your computer to recognize and use the second paper tray on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
