@JAMI16, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Unlocking Printer Settings on HP Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP8028 printer's settings are locked by an administrator password. Unfortunately, if you have forgotten the administrator password, you won't be able to unlock these settings on your own. Here's what you can try:

Locate the Default Admin Password: Some HP printers come with a unique default administrator password that can be found either on a sticker on the rear of the printer or in the printer's settings menu. Check if your printer has a default admin password sticker and try using that.

Using the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open a web browser on your computer.
  • Type your printer's IP address in the browser's address bar (you can find the IP address on the printer's status report or network configuration page).
  • Once the Embedded Web Server page opens, try logging in with the admin credentials. If you don't remember the password, you'll need to contact HP support for further assistance.

Reset the Admin Password:

  • If you are able to access the EWS or the printer's control panel with the default admin password, navigate to the security settings.
  • Change the administrator password to something you'll remember.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
