HP DeskJet 2655 All-in-One Printer

My daughter passed away and I’m trying to set her printer up in my house, but it’s asking for password and I do not know the password and because I don’t know the password I’m not able to connect to Wi-Fi.

Hi @Sgross65,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It must be incredibly tough dealing with this while trying to handle seemingly simple tasks like setting up her printer. Let’s see if we can resolve the printer issue together.

If the printer is asking for a password to connect to Wi-Fi, it is likely looking for the Wi-Fi network password. If you’re not sure about your home Wi-Fi password, you might find it on a label on your router or in the documentation provided by your internet service provider.

In case it’s the printer’s own password that has been forgotten, we could reset the printer to its factory settings. Here’s a general guide on how to reset an HP printer:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the printer for about 30 seconds and then reconnect it.
  3. Turn on the printer while holding down the "Resume" button (or similar, depending on the model) until the printer starts the reset process.

Resetting should clear any saved settings, including the password, allowing you to start fresh and connect it to your Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
